Essential items for your suitcase when visiting Santa's Lapland
The adults will be delighted to see the joy on the faces of the children when they finally find Santa in Lapland. Yes, this is all possible and My Fab Place have tickets for you. Just get in touch to book and you will be whisked away to Lapland where the magic of Christmas comes to light.
But, before you leave you must write your letter to Santa so he knows what’s on the list. As part of the magic the experience starts while you are still at home. We will send to you a special envelope with all the tickets and paper for children to write their Christmas list.
The list is really important as it needs to get to Santa before the children arrive and it needs to be written with your child’s favourite pen. Something like this for mermaid lovers, or this for princess lovers, or this for marvel lovers, or this for Harry Potter and all kids love flashing stationary.
Once complete you can be on your way to Lapland but before you get there you might find that Santa’s little Elves have been informed of your visit and they can’t wait to meet you. So much so that they might even make an appearance on the airplane to make sure all children are being good. The best thing to keep kids entertained on the flight is a Lapland activity book. And for the adults, the ultimate guide to visiting Lapland will keep you busy on the journey.
Nestled in the remote northern reaches of Finland, situated more than 200 kilometres above the Arctic Circle, lies an enchanting destination surrounded by the snow-covered landscapes of Saariselkä. This secluded spot, a pristine wilderness, captivates with its untouched beauty and immersive wintry charm. The location, surrounded by snowy trees that glisten in the Arctic sun, offers a unique and serene escape. Saariselkä, with its secluded ambiance and proximity to the Arctic Circle, provides an unparalleled setting for those seeking an extraordinary winter wonderland experience. This far-north haven promises a retreat into nature’s embrace, where the enchantment of the Arctic unfolds amidst the snowy tranquillity of the surrounding trees. When visiting for a short Santa Lapland adventure the good news is that the snow suits and boots are included but you will still need some good quality thermal socks and base layers to make sure you are comfortable when you are out and about in Santa’s Lapland village.
Accommodation to suit every need and a glass top igloo allows for an immersive experience under the stars. Of course there are also hotel and chalet accommodation available alongside the most popular option of a log cabin and any special requests can be met by getting in touch to discuss.
Huskey rides, reindeer rides or snowmobile rides are all available and if you wanted an extended stay we can also arrange skiing or apres ski alongside kids activities and tailor made extras, just for you and your party.
There are many different things to explore once you are there and appropriate clothing is needed to keep everyone warm. It is therefore advised that children under the age of 3 might be just a bit too young.
So what do you need in your suitcase?
When I took my girls to Lapland I packed a small Sherpa blanket for each person which was used when we were relaxing in the room although a hoodie would also be just as comfy, particularly for smaller children. Depending on your package we can also arrange for robes to be available.
The essentials are provided but sometimes it’s nice to have your own things and therefore I would recommend good quality gloves and thermal hats for the kids to make sure they are comfortable throughout the day and generally allows you to always have a dry set to fall back on. It’s always nice to be in your own clothes. The accommodation and social areas are well heated but don’t underestimate the transition between them, particularly if you have chosen to stay in a log cabin or glass igloo.
You will also need clothing that fits on top of your base layers and you can feel comfortable whilst dining or taking in the evening entertainment. A good pair of trousers which are breathable would be the best thing and avoiding jeans as they get uncomfortable quite quickly if they get wet. A well insulated pair of snow boots would also be beneficial for getting on and off the plane. Even in the UK there is nothing better than warm feet in winter.
Of course, if you don’t have the outer clothing included in your package then it is essential that you take ski jackets and ski trousers as well as snow boots. The links here are predominantly for women but kids will also need protective layers and these all in one ski suits and matching sets are cute.
